Although we’re only a family of 4 and not 21 like the Duggars 😉
… We still go through quite a bit of laundry as I’m sure everyone understands, especially with a newly potty trained almost 2 year old! As of tomorrow!!!!
So I am attempting to save some money in this area of my life. I am making the Homemade Liquid Laundry Soap as seen on the Duggars’ website here: http://www.duggarfamily.com/content/duggar_recipes/30455/Homemade%2520Liquid%2520Laundry%2520Soap-%2520Front%2520or%2520top%2520load%2520machine-%2520best%2520value
I started making it yesterday and I’m finishing it today and will try it out later and keep you updated.
Here is a list of the cost for the laundry detergent, although I am making 10 gallons total:
- 1 bar soap = $3.49
- 1 box Washing Soda (55oz) $3.19 – Cost Per Cup = .46 cents
- 1 box Borax (76oz) $4.49 – Cost Per Cup = .47 cents
- Optional Essential Oil: Tea Tree Oil (1oz) $8.99 – Cost for 40 Drops = .72 cents
Total Cost for 5 Gallons or 80+ loads of Laundry Detergent = $5.17
Total Cost Per Load: Approximately .06 cents
I’m curious to see how this works and how much money it will save us in the end.
Yummy! Looks delicious 😉
Here’s what I have in the 5 gallon bucket so far:
Stay tuned and have a great Thursday!
